I joined the Army Reserves in 2001 at the age of 17. I found myself in Balad, Iraq from 2004-2005. I walked around Camp Anaconda and parts of Iraq with a camera in one hand and a notebook in the other. These are my scribbles about my experience in Iraq and returning home.

Though I'm positive that he can't implement radical change, I just don't think we need someone with his ideology in that office. Do you really think that any other candidate would have gotten through the Wright, Ayers, Khalid, no hand over the heart during the national anthem, redistribute the wealth, bankrupt the coal industry, ect scandal and actually won? I think his record is pretty socialist (I think Hillary's is too) but I don't think he'll try to change our system. I dunno, maybe it will be good for the other side to think "this guy understands where we are coming from." I hope for his sake that he can find a way to keep all his promises and do it in a way that is fiscally sound, but it may be a big task. I'm glad we have a black president (I just wish it wasn't this black guy), I'll actually call him African American cause his dad is from Africa directly, we finally got over that hump. I just don't think the vast majority of American give two shits what color or gender someone is, hell at least 66 million people don't care about color. We still need "proof" on the gender side though. Sure there are some loons out there, but I doubt they will ever go away completely anyway. At least the rest of us get it.
I feel the same way...fingers crossed and I hope Obama gets a food taster over this next 90 days.
Maybe now, Kate, just MAYBE, we'll have a real statesman for a change; and we'll be lucky if the country can be run from the center instead of the far right. As an aside, you can put your glasses back on now. Sarah's gone back to Mooseville (at least for 4 years)and you won't be SARAH-eotyped (roflmao!!!).
You realize of course, Hannity Limbaugh et al are going to spend hours day in day out for the next 4 years calling him anti-american, socialist and laying all the blame for everything and anything which goes wrong in the US. Its the BBC.

Here's to you and all those who serve and have served this Veteran's Day and every day.
Thank you.
I was so pumped when it was finally declared, I thought of calling everyone I knew in the US, but figured I would be considerate. As luck would have it, they were all awake anyway.
I'm really, really psyched though.
Well, it won't be long before he takes office (19 days). But he should proceed w/extreme caution and not let the right-wing bogard him re expanding war in Afghanistan--that's the place where empires go to die. Besides, with this fucked-up economy, how are we, as a debtor nation going to fight endless wars?? BTW, HNY, Kate.
you say your fighting for AMERICA,he does,nt evan salute our flag, and sooooooooooooooo much more anti-american feelings.
