Help me write a paper...
With the current state of the economy...have you changed the way you live? Less shopping? Less drinking? Public transportation? No more organic food? Staying at a shitty job you can't stand? Anything. Let me know please! (If you don't want to leave a comment email me: arita8x8@yahoo.com. I'll also need your full name. Thanks!)

We have gone out for dinner less - sold one of our cars and paid off our credit card debt. We now put more cash into savings, we actually opened a savings account for all future expenditures ie. one account is a future vehicle, another is for vacations, one is an emergency only fund (we made a list of what rates as an emergency) and one for incidentals ie DVDs and stuff and lastly an investment account - we place a certain percentage into the various accounts each month. Point is, we have become VERY budget oriented and only pay cash :)
I was just thinking about this the other day.
I really haven't altered my spending habits, and I won't unless I find myself unemployed. As far as I'm concerned, there's no need to cut back if you've already established a comfortable savings and you're lucky enough to remain employed.
I've gone two ways with it. General panic has me buying most of my base level groceries at the 99c store, which carries mostly overstock and brand x items. Most name-brand were miserable commercial failures. Have you ever heard of banana flavored Reese's Peanut Butter Cups? They're horrible, and you can get 4 packs for 99c. Anyways, all toiletries and most groceries come from there.
I'm also in a band and we don't go on tour as much because we can't afford to take time off as often.
The flip side is that in Los Angeles, rent is crashing hard and fast. An apartment that I looked at in August cost over 30% less in December, so I finally get to not have roommates anymore.
Hope this helps!

Well we talk about saving, but we don't really, (we keep trying) we are shell shocked by the state of things, we have cut back on eating out, buying books, (ouch) take the busses more, and worry about when one of us will get laid off, and when the other will just chuck a job out of frustration...
